Our Chief Instructor and Founder, Ray Sarkine started training in Martial Arts at the age of 5. Due to a loving and supportive Father Ray was able to continue his training throughout his childhood and has been continually practicing, developing his skills, learning and teaching over his entire life! Ray offers his students the benefits of these decades of in-depth experience and knowledge. Ray started his training with Kyokushin Karate, the famous full-contact bare-knuckle style known for it's physical toughness and no nonsense practical approach to self-defense. This style of Karate has developed many famous fighters such as: George St. Pierre, Bas Rutten, Andy Hug, and Francisco Filho. Many famous celebrities and stars such as: Sean Connery and Dolph Lundgren chose this style for practical self-defense. At the time Ray began it was very rare for children to be accepted but Ray persevered and after years of study he achieved his Black Belt.

Ray then went on to study other Martial Arts with great intensity and dedication. He trained years in Aikido, Kendo, Kenjitsu, Tanto-jitsu, and some Judo and Jujitsu. When Ray discovered Muay Thai he admits it was love at first sight. Muay Thai offered him all the qualities that he loved. Beauty of movement, Grace and technical excellence, and most of all, a practical and realistic Art! Mr. Sarkine has work experience in Law enforcement and executive protection. He has trained members of our Nation's elite Special Forces and agents from the United States top law enforcement agencies. This real world experience has helped him develop a unique insight into what is needed for practical self-defense and a talent for communicating the why's and how's to a wide spectrum of students.

Ray loves all Martial Arts but he is a true Muay Thai Devotee and Purist. Ray founded our present school and has been teaching Muay Thai here in Indianapolis for 25 years! This makes our gym one of the oldest, if no the oldest, Muay Thai schools in the United States! Ray has trained many World Muay Thai Champions as well as many Indiana State Golden Gloves and Silver Gloves Boxing Champions. Ray instituted and taught the very first Muay Thai accredited college course. At the time of this writing Mr. Sarkine is working diligently on building a huge, custom facility, the first of it's kind in the United States, built from the ground up for the advancement of Muay Thai. This facility will offer the best training, the best equipment, top of the line instruction and opportunities for students, fighters, instructors in-training, and fans of Muay Thai. This new facility is also scheduled to be the home for the reality show of the U.S. Muay Thai Contender. Ray's wife Tammy is a Muay Thai World Champion and is an instructor candidate, his daughter is, at 6 yrs old, a fighter in training. Muay Thai for Ray is a family affair!
